Out & About

The Out and About group try to organise a trip, visit or event once a month. In January this group holds an AGM to discuss with all of the members the plans for the year and hopefully get offers from people to organise trips to their favourite places of interest.

As a policy we try to include things that you would not see if you went to these places as an individual. Examples of visits we have made recently have been a conducted tour of Taunton museum followed later in the year by visting the Somerset Heritage Centre, the storage facilities of many treasures for the county. We have watched cheese being made and stored at Westcome cheese Farm and had a talk and tour at Glenda Spooner's farm for the Welfare of horses, their rescue and rehabilitation. We went behind the scenes at the Bristol Old Vic, hearing about its history and stories of the thunder machine. We had a conducted tour of Batcombe House gardens also followed by tea. Our year always ends with a skittles buffet lunch in November and starts with another lunch in the winter or early spring.

We are always interested in places to go and welcome sugesstions. Nearly all our trips include a meal together or at least a tea. We work closely with the members arranging day coach trips which go further a field.

If you are tempted to join us at any time, do not hesitate to contact Ann (using the link above).
